  17. <p>    Back in the '60s, when it seemed as if the whole world was
  18. listening to protest songs, the sweetest singer of all was Joan
  19. Baez. At 48, the queen of folk is still in fine bloom.
  20. Celebrating 30 years of performing with a new album (Speaking
  21. of Dreams), Quaker-raised Baez has changed her tune. "The core
  22. point of my life now is that it's a revelation to be able to
  23. sing and enjoy it and not have an ulterior motive when I get up
  24. in front of an audience," she says. And when she's "feeling
  25. playful," things get really rosy.
